International Investigations

International Reach

From New York, we can engage on-the-ground investigators worldwide. We have performed investigations in Europe, Asia and Latin America using local-language investigators, former law enforcement and investigative journalists, as required.

We have obtained Hong Kong securities and corporate filings, Lithuanian public records, and a subject’s address in Brazil for service of process. Location is no barrier.

CASE STUDY: KOREAN RECORDS TO PROVE STOCK OWNERSHIP

A divorce client needed Korean securities records to prove that a spouse was a shareholder of a family-owned Korean corporation. In the course of a comprehensive asset search, we obtained those records and were able to calculate the value of the shares held. Our bill was $2,700.

CASE STUDY: PRICE FIXING IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

Due diligence of a British executive revealed that he had been involved in a price-fixing inquiry in the United Kingdom. This did not come up in indexes of regulatory filings, but the executive had counterclaimed when his company sought compensation from him, so a thorough search across multiple databases in the U.K. turned up the relevant suit. This happened after his time at the company, but we searched comprehensively because legal trouble can arise in connection with a job long after a person leaves the company. Our bill was $3,400.

CASE STUDY: SERVING ELUSIVE TRUST SETTLOR IN ASIA

We were asked to locate and serve an American resident of Southeast Asia in a trust and estates matter (he was he settlor). Through social media searching we found his group of friends and then contacted one of them to ask about a second person (not the person we were investigating). In the course of the conversation we were given the phone number of our subject. A lawyer working for us in that city then arranged contact with the subject and professed interest in the subject’s hobby – wine collecting. The subject then provided his address. He was visited by process servers several times before agreeing to accept service. Our bill was $7,300.
